Of course he did. He said it was his and then tried to cover it up.
The best part of Benny retiring from his self-insert fics is that he knows the right reason to do so, realizing that he should be making his own original stories rather than just because of us saying his fics were bad. I certainly respect him for that. I could cry with joy (I'm serious too)!
