Heck No Pooh's Adventures

RSS

(Note: I did this riff last week, but forgot to post it until now)

Last time we saw Finn and Jake, they were called the “Chosen Ones” (obviously), and were told about Jacob NightFury, who is basically the creator of the video trying to be cool, as he teamed up with the Power Rangers to make all his dreams come true when they look better in his head. Now we join Finn, Jake and Jacob as they make a Power Rangers movie much worse than before. Finn and Jake’s Adventures of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie.

  • 0:22 The Adventure Time opening without camcording? That’s a step up from the last one, at least.
  • 0:35 I just hope this self insert is capable of recording himself more than Reese. And that he’s not as annoying as Trainboy.
  • 1:54 So far, I was right about both parts. But that reach for the camera doesn’t show a good sign.
  • 2:54 ACTIIIIING! Well, at least he’s a real kid and not someone who has been a kid for two decades.
  • 3:58 Just when you thought the Power Rangers movie couldn’t get any campier…
  • 4:15 Wait. Now it’s just camcorded footage? You contradictory bastard.
  • 4:32 And why are they playing in the snow? Where exactly are they supposed to be?
  • 5:08 See what I mean? Finn and Jake playing in the snow is probably the new Pooh in the desert!
  • 6:12 Why not just repeat it and then include a shot of Jacob pretending to land? This just ruins the “one at a time” concept.
  • 7:05 Shouldn’t he either be surprised to see a couple of cartoons talking to him, or get excited over the fact that he’s actually “talking” to Finn and Jake?
  • 7:13 Uh-oh…
  • 7:31 Oh, okay.
  • 7:34 Why have I only seen, like, 10+ episodes of this show? At least Netflix exists.
  • 7:42 Well, this isn’t the kind of introduction scene you’d see everyday.
  • 8:24 So far, this kid’s scripting is on par with Benny’s, which means that he has better concept of English than most Pooh’s Adventures creators (in speech at least), even if the videos are terrible.
  • 8:47 “ourselfs” Sometimes, listening is better than reading.
  • 11:24 Lighting.
  • 12:22 Font.
  • 14:05 That’s how the Ice King gets introduced? Really? We can’t even see him, so he deserves better.
  • 16:39 They’ll you to do his business?
  • 17:11 You can say that again, dog who keeps appearing in the wrong places.
  • 17:51 And now there’s recorded footage of Chowder? This confuses me.
  • 19:20 While Reese has a lightsaber, Jacob has this.
  • 21:05 People like this.
  • 21:13 More clearly evident uselessness.
  • 27:00 Bad use of a one-liner when it’s clearly ooze.
  • 27:18 *drinks to “You can say that again”*
  • 27:53 You know, they surely don’t make them like this anymore. I can see why.
  • 28:47 (see 27:00)
  • 31:17 It’s always the guests who provide the over-the-top reactions.
  • 32:54 [link]
  • 34:55 (see 27:53)
  • 35:28 How the hell did they already know?
  • 37:47 *drinks*
  • 39:01 Ice King Power? Creativity.
  • 39:45 No, your Flash plug-in did not just freeze yet.
  • 41:47 Says the kid with a huge sword.
  • 42:36 The only attention given to a cartoon until then was Chowder, and this kid could only make up for that with a subtitle.
  • 50:41 (see 31:17)
  • 50:42 (see 8:47)
  • 56:31 Finally, a character guesses instead of stating the obvious.
  • 57:21 What is this, Chowder’s Adventures?
  • 1:03:04 Really, we’ve barely seen Finn at all.
  • 1:03:39 Apparently this amulet also turned him into a damn hedgehog.
  • 1:03:59 The best things Finn could get recently are another “What” shot and a subtitle calling Sonic “Jacob”.
  • 1:05:52 “I gue*cut off* THINK.
  • 1:07:10 And now he finally remembered that this is Finn and Jake’s Adventures.
  • 1:09:14 Of course Jake had to interrupt that magical moment. Speaking of which, why is Chowder only being used to scream "Freak”?
  • 1:10:42 ICE KING: …and Ice!
  • 1:11:42 That’s not your guess. The last time you did guess!
  • 1:11:52 *drinks*
  • 1:13:01 Oh, how I wish I could actually hear him…
  • 1:15:01 Poor Finn, only getting one reaction shot when he speaks in captions.
  • 1:15:41 The joys of camcording.
  • 1:19:34 Ice King, you pussy.
  • 1:25:24 Make that two. And that one just stole someone’s line.
  • 1:26:46 (see 31:17)
  • 1:27:13 Again, why is Chowder only being wasted on reaction shots? And wasn’t there a decent shot of Finn and Jake upset?
  • 1:29:05 This is where the Flushed Away crossover picks up. Ho boy.
  • 1:29:24 And apparently Team Adventure is a bunch of Power Ranger clones.
  • 1:32:24 Kermode E. Gold.
  • Loneliness: image
  • Ice King’s patheticness: image
  • Uselessness of Finn: image
  • Equality to train men and illiterates: image
  • Chowder’s “FREAK” screams: image

Overall: 4.2/5

0.16/10. I had never watched Power Rangers in a decade until I watched the first movie on Netflix (thanks to an add-on that helps me watch USA Netflix in the UK), and it’s still bad. Suffice to say, this treatment is even worse. While it’s not the most painful of all the self inserts (if you were expecting me to make a fat joke then screw you), it continues to show how useless toons can be when compared to self inserts. Sure this may be a kid making his dream a reality, but add repetitive cartoon clips and you bring it further down to hell than usual. Tune in next time when they meet rats who aren’t supposed to talk to humans.
