My idea for a crossover
I’ve posted this on my own personal blog, but I’ve added a few more details so I’ll post it here.
This crossover takes place in two universes far, far apart from each other - the universe and the Tooniverse. The animated universe will be like ours, only every country will be made up of states and towns based on the studios that own the cartoons and Japan would be practically bigger than Russia. To get to each world and take their acting jobs, they would have to go through portals that take them to their studios but they are not allowed outside of the studios or even Hollywood because of the risk of curious dragons destroying and killing. Doppelgangers (like in Who Censored Roger Rabbit) would meet and greet at theme parks instead of walkarounds.
Many of the toons don’t dress the same as they do in your average cartoon crossover, they would wear clothing that often matches the time they were imagined. They also take their own jobs when they are not acting. Of course they don’t die except when they touch a special kind of element that wouldn’t do the same to a human, like in Roger Rabbit, and they don’t age but child toons will choose to do so if they have lost recognition for more or less than a decade so that they can take new jobs at a reasonable age, because they can’t stay in school forever.
This cartoon world would also be at a war of medium freedom, with the 2D toons protesting for free will in their careers due to overpowerment by CGI and Flash. It’s basically like our world but not quite as realistic in physics. Due to characters from adult animation being present and the realism of a cartoon world, this wouldn’t be safe for kids despite the Disney characters and such. Think Logorama with a different meaning. It could be a mockumentary or just an adventure that plays satire on the animation industry and tropes, from Disney-style musicals to Shrek-style comedies.
